About the Program
The Senior Scholars program allows high-achieving CECS undergraduate students to complete graduate-level courses in CECS. Senior Scholars may take up to three graduate-level courses while they are an undergraduate student, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for a given course.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Senior Scholar program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have a UCF GPA of 3.000 or higher.
- Earn a “B” (3.0) or better in all requisites for a given graduate-level course. Please note that a “B-” (2.75) does not count as a “B” (3.0).

Q: How many graduate-level courses can I take? Are there any restrictions?
A: You may take up to three graduate-level courses as a Senior Scholar. Senior Scholars may enroll in no more than two-graduate level courses in one semester. Senior Scholars can only enroll in one 6000-level course in their graduating term.
Q: Which classes can I take?
A: You may take any course that you meet prerequisites for, but we encourage you to choose courses that count towards a requirement for your undergraduate major. A list of suggested courses can be found here.
Q: Is there an application?
A: There is no formal application to be a Senior Scholar. If you meet the eligibility criteria and course prerequisites for a graduate-level course you are interested in, you may submit an override at https://go.ucf.edu/CECS-Override.
Q: Do I have to pay more for graduate-level courses?
A: Graduate-level courses are assessed a higher tuition and fee rate (typically $369.65/credit hour) compared to undergraduate-level courses (typically $212.28/credit hour). Many scholarships and grants will cover the undergraduate portion of the tuition and fees, but students will be expected to pay the difference. Please verify all financial information with the Office of Student Financial Assistance and Student Accounts.
